OUR TEAM

Amy Butterfield - Founder

Having taught dance for over 25 years, Amy started Street Kicks with a mission to provide inclusive environments for dancers to celebrate themselves and each other through music and movement. The foundation of everything that Street Kicks offers is that music and movement can support our emotional health, and we help children, young people and adults to understand how to use it as a strategy when navigating their way through life.

Amy started dancing at 3 years old at The Jo Cook School of Dance, where she gained solid dance foundations from RAD Ballet, ISTD Modern, and ISTD Tap. At 15 she began to take open jazz classes with Diane Curtis and went on to train professionally at London Studio Centre at 16 years old. There she expanded her training to include Matt Mattox jazz, Graham Contemporary, Street Jazz, voice and drama. After graduating at 19, Amy continued her training at Pineapple Dance Studios, and found her groove thanks to the legendary Jimmy Williams and his incredible Locking & Jazz Funk styles.

As a performer, Amy's love has always been for the stage and live performance. She combined all her experience when becoming a dancer, Dance Captain and ultimately Resident Director of the international touring show ‘Bounce - The Street Dance Sensation’. Amy then joined ZooNation becoming a creative cast member in the original production of ‘Into The Hoods’.

Amy has always loved teaching, and now has over 25 years of experience. She got her break into teaching at Pineapple Dance Studios where she was given a residency, and went on to work with children and adults of all ages and abilities through her teaching and international touring career. She has taught at many studios and schools including Pineapple Dance Studios, Pineapple Performing Arts School, London Studio Centre, Italia Conti, SoEl Dance Academy, Rise Studios, The Vyne Theatre & Dance Company, Culture Shock UK, and outreach programmes for the MET Police.

Amy is passionate about creating a nurturing, positive atmosphere for all dancers to learn and thrive within. Amy's approach is encouraging, consistent and caring, ensuring every student feels supported and limitless...
